Monica Dalidowicz is a doctoral candidate in anthropology at Macquarie University. Her research looks at the pedagogical methods used amongst kathak dance practitioners, particularly within the context of the guru-shisya (master-disciple) tradition. Her multi-sited Phd research follows the transnational movements of kathak master Chitresh Das between teaching dance to students in both the United States and in Kolkata, India. Her work investigates the complex relation between our material reality, the quotidian movement world, and the specialized domain of dance. She is also a student of kathak.
