Shruti Ghosh

Shruti graduated in comparative literature at Jadavpur University, Kolkata, India. In 2007 she completed Masters in Film Studies at the same university.  Shruti has also completed a Masters of Music in Kathak, (trained by Guru Sumitra Mitra) under the academic board of Prayag Sangit Samiti, Allahabad.

In addition to Kathak she is trained in the basics of Bharatnatyam (south Indian classical dance), Indian creative dance and Kalaripayuttu (south Indian martial art form). She has been performing both individually and in groups since the age of five in various parts of Kolkata.

Shruti shares her love of dance with others through teaching and is currently teaching Bollywood dance to Macquarie University students. She has also worked with a theatre group and acted in a few plays. While completing her Masters, she made a short film and has written film reviews as well as articles on films in various journals.

Over the past few years she has been working as a dancer and choreographer with a Kolkata based group called Shampan. Recently she collaborated with other artists in a Research Project in Sydney housed by Critical Path (March 2011) and also performed and acted in Bengali play Bisorjon (sacrifice) organized by a Sydney based cultural group (Syd-Kol) at Newtown Theatre in June 2011.
